Sony Vaio VGN-P688

Just when the human race had determined that no computer should be smaller than the netbooks currently on the market, Sony had a new idea.  The Sony Vaio VGN-P688.  The average netbook weighs about three pounds but Sony didn’t feel that was light enough.

The Sony Vaio VGN-P688 weighs a mere 1.4 pounds and can fit in the pocket… almost literally.  The computer is about the size of a business envelope and thin as a cell phone.  It’s one of the only computers that can fit in a purse or jacket pocket with ease.  The Sony Vaio VGN-P688 was specifically created so that people could indulge in their computer addiction from anywhere.

While there are still not many computers that float as beautifully as the Macbook Air, the Sony Vaio VGN-P688 has a lightweight air about it as well.   Because of it’s charm, beauty, and super-portability, individuals who want a Sony Vaio VGN-P688 have to pay a hefty price tag.

If a person needs at least 64GB, the computer starts at $999.99.  That price rises to $1499.99 if 128GB are desired.

Some of the features of the Sony Vaio VGN-P688 include:

A Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Operating System

8 inch XBRITE-ECO LED backlit screen

2 GB of RAM

Built-in real-time GPS

Webcam and microphone

Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity

And up to four hours of battery life.

Sony decided to make the computer available in an assortment of five jewel tones.  The colors available are crystal white, gold, garnet red, emerald green, or onyx black.

While the computer looks incredibly enticing, looks can be deceiving.   Although the computer hasn’t managed to garner many reviews, reviewers have one consistent complaint.   That one complaint is the speed of the system.  Owners of the Sony Vaio VGN-P688 claim that the computer is super cute, but it’s also super slow.
