Holiday aftermath: What to do with old gadgets
Many Michiganians opened boxes bearing newer, shinier electronics last week — and suddenly found their outdated gadgets about as useful as the piles of shredded wrapping paper and ribbons. Now they need to figure out what to do with their suddenly obsolete cell phones, computers, music players and electronic games, as a wave of new and improved gadgets creates a pile of potentially toxic — but also potentially profitable — old gizmos. One answer is the growing number of online sites and even retailers that will buy and resell or recycle electronics, as well as stand-bys such as eBay, Craigslist and even the local pawn shop.
